Federal 5.56 NATO ammo is excess production from military contracts at the Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Independence, Missouri and is widely sought after for its mil-spec quality. Each cartridge in this can fires a heavy 62 grain green-tipped full metal jacket bullet at 3,104 feet per second. This ammo is made to the M855 standard.

These cartridges use non-corrosive Boxer primers and brass cases with visible annealing marks.
