The 22 LR is by no means a very noisy cartridge. Still, sometimes you’d like your target practice or varmint hunt to be as discreet as possible – which is why you will appreciate Eley’s Subsonic label ammunition.

This cartridge has a 38 grain bullet. That is not unusual for a 22 LR, but this round’s relatively weak propellant charge means that it will produce a muzzle velocity of 1,040 fps when fired from a rifle’s barrel. That doesn’t break the sound barrier, so no supersonic cracking report will issue!

The bullet itself is a lead hollow point, with a deep nose cavity for rapid and deadly expansion on varmints. The bullet additionally features firm hydrocarbon lubricant, which will reduce lead fouling to preserve a firearm’s accuracy.
