Hornady crowns this showstopper with their 30 grain V-MAX projectile. It is a polymer tipped bullet, with the swaged lead core and balanced AMP jacket it needs to exhibit great rotational stability in addition to very little in-flight drag. If your rifle has the 24” barrel the V-MAX needs to achieve a muzzle velocity of 2,200 fps, then the bullet’s 0.095 G1 ballistic coefficient will prevent transonic destabilization until it reaches 166 yards!

The V-MAX is only designed to display the full force of its terminal expansion at impact velocities higher than 1,600 fps, which this round will do until approximately 77 yards. The tip’s long tail and core’s precision formed nose cavity work together to create not just terminal expansion, but terminal explosion. The varmint will think that it died and went to heaven, and it will be correct.
