Sierra’s MatchKing is the most successful match bullet in all of history. But did the Missourian company decide to rest on their laurels and stop there? You bet your boots they did not! Instead they developed the MatchKing Tipped, which is precisely the bullet Black Hills of South Dakota decided to give this match grade 5.56x45 ammunition.

Like its predecessor, the TMK possesses a thin copper jacket that is drawn to an impressively strict concentricity standard of ±0.0003. The TMK also has the MatchKing’s balanced lead core, which does even more to secure great in-flight rotational stability. Sierra improved the TMK by fine-tuning its jacket geometry, and also giving it a sharp, centered and aerodynamic acetyl resin tip. The TMK’s superior capacity for velocity conservation equals a flatter trajectory and higher resistance to wind deflection!

This round’s bullet weighs 77 grains – heavy, which grants even greater immunity against wind interference (1:6–1:8” barrel twist recommended). The TMK’s polymer tip may streamline it, but it does not serve to initiate terminal expansion. Black Hills’ mastery of their craft assures that this ammo cycles smoothly in all sorts of MSRs. They recorded its muzzle velocity with a 20” test barrel.
