Some college professor types claim that we only associate “dove” with “love” because the words rhyme. Maybe. Perhaps. Could be. But can any of those ivory tower thesis-graders recommend good 20 Gauge dove hunting ammo? We think not!

Here’s a case of proper 20ga small game loads, right here: Fiocchi Field Dynamics. Each shell is loaded with 7/8 ounces of #8 chilled lead shot. The shot pellets are screened three times before reaching the inside of a shotshell, which helps to prevent unpredictable patterning and flyaways. This shell’s wad will shorten a good deal during ignition, which is how it minimizes shot deformation and felt recoil at the same time. Even this ammo’s powder is engineered to reduce felt recoil! Keep those hulls if you’re in a handloading frame of mind.
