This cartridge was expertly loaded and carefully inspected to ensure absolutely reliable functionality during a life-or-death altercation. Its Boxer primers spark up like clockwork. Its propellant burns up fast while emitting impressively little flash – certain to help you see better after firing your first shot in the dark. Its nickel-plated cases encounter less friction as they glide through a semi-automatic, and they protect against corrosion as well.

Hornady’s FTX bullet is the real star of the program. It’s very heavy at 73 grains. It doesn’t make the cartridge too long to fit in a standard AR mag, but it does reach its target with more momentum which it uses to achieve effectively deep penetration. The FTX’s lead-alloy core is tethered to its copper-alloy jacket by an InterLock ring – an extension of the jacket which firmly embeds it in the core. The FTX also features the Flex Tip, which keeps debris from jamming up the nose cavity until it triggers devastatingly wide terminal expansion.
