It would be a crime to just use this 6.5 Creedmoor ammunition for casual range training. This is true factory loaded match grade ammo, made in Nebraska by Hornady so you can take the old company’s inspiring motto to heart: Ten bullets through one hole.

This cartridge is loaded with the revolutionary Extremely Low Drag (ELD) Match projectile. After conducting Doppler radar testing, Hornady’s ballisticians discovered that aerodynamic heating is intense enough to actually deform a conventional bullet’s polymer tip. That is why the ELD Match features a Heat Shield tip, which stays symmetrical and pointed no matter how hot air friction cooks it.

The ELD Match is much more than its tip, of course. It also features Hornady’s super-concentric Advanced Manufacturing Process (AMP) jacket, which has a low-drag secant ogive profile, as well as an evenly distributed lead core and boat tail. Everything comes together to give the 140 grain ELD Match a G1 ballistic coefficient of 0.646 (or 0.326 G7 BC). That is why the bullet won’t have to rise by more than 20” when it’s destined for a 500-yard bullseye, and also why it stays supersonic even after passing 1,500 yards. That’s wild!

Hornady’s reloadable brass cases, match grade Boxer primers and best-in-class propellant all do their jobs perfectly. Just one caveat: The ELD Match does not expand after striking its target. If you want the same bullet plus terminal ballistics that are effective for hunting, you want the ELD-X.
