We can’t help but call this ammo “vanilla,” but that’s not to suggest that it’s boring. A 223 Rem round with a 55 grain full metal jacket bullet and 3,240 fps muzzle velocity is simply the most basic you can run through a 5.56x45 or 223 Rem chambered rifle!

Winchester puts quality where it counts. Each cartridge’s FMJ is uniform and features a solid lead core, nonmagnetic copper-alloy jacket, and cannelure to prevent setback under recoil. Each cartridge is also adorned with a noncorrosive Boxer primer and new brass case. The case is visibly discolored, but not because it was previously reloaded. Military grade brass cases are annealed (i.e. heat treated), but they aren’t given a polish to make them prettier afterward.
