The 44 Magnum: a big honkin’ revolver round. We’d all like to be able to handle that bolt of lightning as skillfully as a certain roguish SFPD inspector, but few of us will commit the time and ammo we need to do so.

This American-made 44 Magnum ammunition is a worthy selection for target practice. It is loaded with a 240 grain projectile – extremely normal, as is its 1,217 fps muzzle velocity – although the bullet itself is something special. That’s because the total metal jacket’s lead core is 100% sealed away by its jacket; unlike the FMJ’s core, which is bare on the bottom. The flames of ignition will not evaporate any part of the TMJ’s core, which yields two great advantages: the shooter will not inhale lead gas (which is of especial value if they are firing within the confines of an indoor range), and their firearm will stay significantly cleaner as well.

No 44 Magnum bullet is impotent. A 240 grain TMJ would present an enormous problem for any living thing which receives it. That said, it cannot undergo terminal expansion, and accordingly doesn’t get our endorsement as a hunting bullet. Its flat nose profile does make it a suitable choice for a lever gun, however.

Ammo Inc.’s reloadable brass cases always reward handloaders. Their Hyperclean Technology, which facilitates fuller propellant combustion, does its part to further minimize barrel fouling.
