This 5.56x45 ammunition is manufactured according to the exact same specifications as the U.S. military’s M193 ammo, which is their standard issue for field use with the M16 rifle. Don’t have an M16? Don’t worry – your AR-15 is going to eat Hornady’s M193 right up!

Frontier label ammo is manufactured for Hornady at the government’s own Lake City Army Ammunition Plant. It rightly has military-grade brass cases, non-corrosive primers and highly consistent propellant charges. It’s also completely nonmagnetic, so you can take it to ranges which ban steel jacketed projectiles.

An M193 round’s 55 grain bullet is unleashed from a 20” barrel at a muzzle velocity of 3,240 fps. A bullet that begins its journey at nearly Mach 3 speed exhibits an extremely flat trajectory, so it’s super satisfying to use for target practice. The bullet’s gilding metal jacket helps an semi-auto to feed without jamming, and it also prevents rapid lead fouling. An FMJ is not suitable for hunting and it’s also less than ideal for home defense, but with proper aim it can handle itself in a fight.
