IMI 5.56x45 Ammunition - 30 Rounds of 55 Grain FMJ M193

New shooters often ask us if M193 is a good choice of ammunition for their AR-15 rifles. Friends, M193 is the the ammo you want for target shooting, range training and laid-back plinking with any AR-15 chambered for 5.56. It’s like the vanilla flavor of the 5.56 world!

This particular 5.56 ammo hails from Israel, where Israeli Military Industries was established in 1933. IMI is the sole ammo supplier to the Israel Defense Forces, and it’s comparable in quality to the ammo which comes from America’s own Lake City Army Ammunition Plant in Missouri.

This cartridge has a 55 grain full metal jacket projectile. At that weight this bullet will treat you to the fast muzzle velocity and flat trajectory which the AR-15 is appreciated for, and IMI’s FMJ has the hard jacket, balanced weight, and streamlined profile it needs to feed smoothly, remain stable in flight, and retain good velocity hundreds of yards out. An FMJ is never ideal for self-defense because it doesn’t expand, which is why you usually only find it at the shooting range.

This isn’t military surplus ammo. IMI made it specifically for the civilian market, so it has new and non-corrosive primers and fresh propellant charges. The brass case is brand new as well, but as is so often the case with military-grade brass it was not polished up after being annealed. That grayness is just cosmetic!\
