These cartridges feature steel components in place of ones that are traditionally made of copper. Steel is a much cheaper metal, and that’s going to have a very welcome effect on your piggy bank.

Steel cases aren’t reloadable, and their inelasticity frequently causes more fouling of the action. That said, their much lower cost is an enormous bonus to any high-volume shooter. Sterling’s cases are outfitted with noncorrosive Berdan primers, so you’ll have no rust to worry about after the smoke has settled.

This ammo’s 123 grain full metal jacket projectiles wear bimetal jackets. They are copper-washed on the outside, but otherwise made of steel. The steel is soft enough to avert damage to the bore. It is also certain to attract a magnet, which will prevent you from firing this ammo at ranges which prohibit “magnetic” bullets.
