Writer Profile: Emily Deugan
Emily Deugan began writing with the Target Barn team in 2019 and has her Undergraduate Degree in Communications.
She has been shooting competitively with USPSA and GSSF League for the past 3 years.
In 2016, she came in 3rd place in the Outdoor Channel’s, Midwest region for “The American Marksman.”
She also co-leads a chapter of The Well Armed Woman, with the aim of educating and equipping women shooters.
She also volunteers her time as a coach, with the Central Iowa Scholastic Shooters.
Emily is honored to be a member of the Iowa C.O.P.S. (Concerns of Police Survivors) shooting team, as well as a member of Veterans3Gun Team 900, with the aim of combating veteran suicides.
She has enjoyed training with Bill Blowers, John Lovell, Craig Douglas, Scott Jedlinksi and Kerry Davis among others.
Deugan has also recently attended the 2019 Shooters Symposium and was able to train with many of her favorite instructors.
For the remainder of 2019, she is looking forward to training with Tom Givens and Chuck Pressburg.
She is a competitive powerlifter and has her sights set on training and competing in an upcoming occurrence of “The Tactical Games,” where she can combine her love of shooting and strength training. #2020Goals
Emily is married to her husband Paul, who is also the Senior Marksmanship Coordinator for the Iowa National Guard.
Together, they co-own their firearms training company, Kinetic Fundamentals, and enjoy instructing together.
