Czech Made Ammo for Bulk Training & Precision Hunting

Based in the Czech Republic, Sellier & Bellot is the oldest continuously operational ammunition manufacturer in the world. Their 370 acre production facility also makes S&B the largest employer in the greater Vlašim region. In 2018 their nearly 1,600 employees generated a net income of $39.8 million.

S&B is a leading supplier of classic calibers including 9mm and 223 Rem. They have also adapted to new market trends with ammo including 40 S&W, 300 AAC Blackout, and 6.5 Creedmoor. S&B focuses on high volume production as they manufacture around three million rounds of ammo daily. Some of this is allocated toward the Czech Republic’s army and police force, yet the majority of S&B’s ammo is exported throughout the world.

S&B’s streamlined production also yields highly consistent ammo. They make each of their 71 calibers’ brass cases, non-corrosive primers, clean burning propellants, and nonmagnetic bullets from high grade raw materials, and they adhere to a strict quality assurance protocol.

History of Sellier & Bellot

S&B was founded in 1825 by Louis Sellier and Jean Maria Nicolaus Bellot. The two monarchists had fled the French Revolution to the safety of Prague. There Sellier and Bellot established the percussion cap factory that would carry their names into the next two centuries.

Europe quickly embraced the percussion cap as the next generation in primer technology, so the two Frenchmen enjoyed great success in their new home country. Their factory was producing 10 million rounds of ammo annually when Sellier passed away in 1870. Sellier’s heirs bought out the Bellot family and proceeded to bring S&B into the 20th century by building new factories in Latvia and Prussia.

WWI quite naturally ate up the entirety of S&B’s production. When peace resumed and Czechoslovakia declared independence from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, S&B became the primary ammo supplier to the new country’s military and police departments. During this time S&B grew even more as they began serving the growing South American and Asian markets. They relocated from Prague to Vlašim in 1936.

WWII proved a tumultuous time for S&B. Their factory was taken over by Germany in 1939, and then again by Russia in 1940. Czechoslovakia nationalized S&B following the war, increasing their production fivefold as they increasingly catered to the international market.

CBC Global Ammunition purchased S&B in 2009. The massive Brazilian company, which also owns Magtech and MEN Germany, currently exports ammo to military, law enforcement, and commercial markets in over 130 countries.

If you spin a globe, pick a country at random, travel there – and then manage to find a firearm – there is a good chance its ammo will bear the world-famous S&B headstamp.
