What makes this a cowboy cartridge? Well, its lead round nose flat point is the old-fashioned kind of bullet, which lacks any copper plating. That’s a huge plus if you’re going to put the hurting on steel targets, since a bullet without copper poses a much lower chance of making you uncomfortable by ricocheting brittle copper shards back at the firing line. The 250 grain bullet’s 750 fps muzzle velocity also falls on the lower end of the spectrum. That means less recoil and less muzzle rise, so you can fire more comfortably and squeeze off fast shots more accurately.

This ammo is not historically accurate in two important ways. Its powder is smokeless, so you won’t be choking on fumes after burning up a cylinder, and its Boxer primers are noncorrosive. Reloadable brass cases, too!
