This cartridge’s 240 grain jacketed hollow point features a nonferrous copper-alloy jacket and solid lead core. The JHP’s nose cavity will produce significant (and extremely injurious) terminal expansion when it fills with pressurized soft tissue. Because the rim of the nose cavity isn’t jacketed, the supple lead core is better equipped to deliver wide expansion even after relatively low-velocity impact. And because the JHP’s nose profile is perfectly flat, it doesn’t threaten accidental discharge while it’s lined up within a lever-action rifle’s tubular magazine.
